Well I'm glad you got what you were aiming for because it certainly raised
a lot of comments. I liked it personally but didn't think Cologne would
have much love for a jerk like Ranma, now affection that's another story.
While thinking on this I had this little idea. 

Happosai shows up at the Tendo Dojo with the standard plot device magic
artifact.

During the battle it is destroyed and Ranma-chan is caught in the released
energies.
She is apparently vaporized, But a few seconds later reappears dressed in
totally different clothes and with a chinese locket around her neck, and no
memory of why. In addition she can not change forms.

After the usual running around they go to see Cologne to see if she can
identifie the locket.

When Ranma-chan comes into the Cat-cafe in her new clothes Cologne faints.

When she is revived she tells them a tale of a mysterious stranger who
appeared one day when Cologne was young, injured and with no memory. 

She proved herself a mighty fighter and was adopted into the village.

A year later an accident with some hot water revealed the curse ,and
Cologne gave her the locket to prevent her becoming male. It only works to
keep the cursed form present not the normal one.

Cologne then calls Shampoo downstairs and formally introduces her to Ranma.

"Shampoo I have just learned that Ranma is in fact an Amazon and what is
more was adopted into our family I am afraid that you may no longer
consider him as your future Husband."

Shampoo is devastated and Akane and Ranma happy. Then Cologne Continues
"Shampoo I wish  to present to you formally My adopted daughter and your
Grandmother."

Very rushed anyone want it they can have it.
