This is a reactionary fanfic. There have been several fanfics that have
bothered me of late. They disturbed me enough so that I felt I had to
write this.
Hmmm. Any in particular? Or was there a common attitude that was
disturbing?
I'd like your opinion.
Whoof. Three days of FFML messages to catch up on, and this one at the
end. Ow. Shot to the gut. I'd have to say this is probably one of the
best stories you've done, and certainly has had one of the strongest
emotional impacts. It also felt older somehow, more serious or mature;
for the first part of the story, I had the impression that 'the woman'
was a good bit older, probably because of the way she treated Kentaro
like a kid with a crush. This worked quite well, and even lingered on for
a little while after she revealed who she really is -- which I didn't
figure out *until* then, by the by, a good job (I think).
I'd also like to know what you thought of the ending. I had intended to
write more, but when I typed the last line, it *felt* right to stop. If
it's too abrupt, or if you think I should continue a little further, I
do have some ideas in my head.
I think this was probably the right place to end it; you've shown what
needed to be shown, I think, and any much further would just cut down on
the impact of that decision.
