ADD'M:

Frosty's essay touches upon many of my own thoughts, and thus
shall I twist his little contributation down a few more paths.

Now, not only are all possibilities possible in probability(hmm,
small tongue twister ;) we must consider the effects of time.
Time, while one word, can mean many things in the vastness of
these infinite universes, omniverses, etc. As you have read or seen, there
are many ways time can operate in stories. (This is why I hate time travel
in stories sometimes ;) Here are some examples dealing with time travel.

One, you can't time travel. Sorry!
Two, you can, but no matter what you do, you've already done it so
why bother? ;) I.E. You go back in time, do something, and find out later
that's the way it actually happened and that YOU were the cause. Nothing
can change it. So you can bounce around all you wantand not have to worry
about mucking up history.
Three, you can go back in time, change something, but you wind up
creating a new universe with your altered timeline and not change the
original one. So much for conservation of mass unless there are some
hidden meta-laws we ain't found yet.(ex. a lot)
Four, you go back, change history, and create a paradox that
nukes/destroys your universe. Too bad. ^_^(ex. Millenium)
Five, all possibilities have their own timelines already and you
can only travel between these universes.(ex. Sliders)

Some universes, like Star Trek, can even have combinations of the
above five, which are not the only possibilities. As such, there are many
types of universes where these forms of Time can occur.
A universe: single entity with normal dimentions(ex. guess ;)
A multiverse: grouping of universes and/or planes of existance
that can show the possibilities of one universe, or hold a few unique
universes/planes that can(not) be traversed.
An omniverse: an undefinable region which holds many
seperate universes, planes, and/or multiverses. Such regions hold normally
nothing, everything, or some other wierd stuff(Chaos, etc....)
The largest known omniverse is Known Creation and that which
contains All is the Void, which is not a proper description but the closed
possible in the English language. @_@ It has no Space nor Time and
therefore can be nothing, infinite, and beyond.
There are 'areas' where beings powerful enough to claim them have
established homes. Recommended that you do NOT intrude. (Ex. Q continuum
for those Q who have discovered the main Void)
The Planes....the same, though most universes have some form of
lesser mirror-image of the true Planes, and sometimes aware of it...or
not.(Ex. Hell(Evil), Heaven(Good), Chaos, etc...

Enough ranting. ;)
