For those that erased the first message without reading it, I asked if anyone
had thought of doing a fanfic guide that was done by the authors instead of a
reviewer. This would cover all archived fanfics instead of just one series.

It's a good idea....and like many good ideas, has already been done to
some extent. David Bateson and WW have a Guide to R1/2 Fanfiction on the
web that's pretty similar to what you describe.
It's also very, very behind. None of the pieces posted to the ML in my
time have been added to it yet; it currently seems to be lagged by a
little over a year.
I'm not sure if the problem is in writing the blurbs or in http stuff,
but I suspect the latter. And, quite frankly, WW has other things to do,
like the ML, and the remailer, and RL......

To keep the length as short as possible, the entry would be limited to title,
author, type, status, availability, and a short three sentence description.
And maybe some other things that make sense.

Yeah, that's about how the guide is organized.
A non-http guide could be done infinitly more quickly and easily....a
good idea. Don't look at me, however....I'm busy enough. ;)
