Now that I seem to be able to post here again...

When I first read this story, I had assumed that Ukyou was a boy.  It does
make sense; Ranma could be engaged to Ukyou without being engaged to any
girls, and making Ukyou male is no more absurd than making Ranma female.

Some minor things I didn't like:
Ukyou is not spelled "Ukkyo".  That's not a romanization difference, that's
a mistake which was introduced in the translated Ranma game.
Also, I think it's a little silly to have a character appear and immediately
say "I'm not like I was in the original continuity because...".  Akane did
this when she talked about her cooking, and Ukyou's fourth line also did
this.  Better to have Ranma ask, or to have Ranma figure it out, or to have
it come up in some other way.
