IMO - that's probably a good idea for any story that is published in
sections rather than as a whole. Anything that might be 'unusual' and needs
to be explained should go out with each part, just like Lemon Warnings tend
to go out with each part of a lemon.

Point taken.

Which leads me to ask this question: Are there many ( or any ) 'fics like
mine, set in the world created by the anime writers but not featuring the
central characters? I know that in Robotech, for instance, those sorts of
'fics are actually the most common type, courtesy of 'purism'.

There have been several stories here where the writer creates their own
anime-esque universe and characters. I don't know of any off-hand where the
anime universe is used but *not* the characters, so what you've just said
about Robotech 'fics is kind of interesting (and strange-seeming) to me. I
guess it might depend on the precedent that's been set in the past. <shrug>

Maybe it's because there's little room in Robotech for new stories featuring
the main characters unless they're set after the events we're show in the
series. I mean, the SDF-1 is toast, the Masters dead, and the Invid off to
the Great Unknown, and we're not really led to believe there were many
adventures involving the main characters that weren't shown in the series.
So about all that's left is to tell other sides of the story - or as one
'fic series aptly puts it, 'alternate points of view'.

Anyway, sorry if I ruffled some feathers... :/

You didn't ruffle any that I know of :)

*Chuckle* Good 'nuff :^)
