Yeah, but I'm trying to avoid getting my characters too powerful, or 
become heroes or solve all the original character's problems and peoplea 
re saying my story sucks.

Hmm, I don't think because a character gets too powerful that generally
makes a bad story, it just tends to lead up to it. I mean I'm sure we've all
read good and bad stories and just because one character is more powerful
(Otaku or otherwise) it doesn't just destroy the story.

Think about TP now the character of Darlene is just a little bit powerful ^^
but I and many others think it's great while I'm sure there are other
stories with much less powerful Otaku characters which are really bad. All
I'm trying to say is it's not the characters or their level of powerful
(except in very rare cases) it's the way in which the stories are done and
how well the content is put to use. Personally I thought Crys Saga with a
few problems was alright, heh did make himself just a little too good though.
