Crys Saga was actually pretty good if you actually ignore the
over-powered main character. He has EXCELLENT characters
to start with (I wouldn't mind seeing other fanfic writers adding
a few of his new additions), and his descriptive writing was good
as well. I kinda wish he'd finished it.
Myself as well. ;) I hate unfinished stories. (Uses hands to deflect
projectiles thrown at himself ;)

while we're at it, let's critique a few other "Otaku" fanfics-- Twisted
Path, Chinese Samurai, Bubblegum Zone, and Undocumented Features.
Uh oh. @_@

Twisted Path. now there's an interesting one-- somewhat overpowered
at places (see overlord, end episode 1) but Twister's sense of humor
balances the story quite nicely, IMHO. (See dealings with Natsume,
episode 2, dozens of other examples all through it), His descriptive writing
is quite good, and I've run into many a fan of the series. I personally
like the story, as well.
;) *bow* Thanks B> If overpowered is the only critique then I'm happy. ;)
(I figure there should be at least one character that defines the term
power-overkill but still manages to attract readers. I'm building depth,
but slowly. ;)

Chinese Samurai. Hmm.. if Twisted Path is overpowered, this is
straight out and out OVERKILL. Jack needs to rework the entire
story. The grammar is horrifying; I barely managed to be able
to read as much as I did! The characters are completely pushed
to the side, Mousse is killed, and Shampoo put into a Lemon. Can
you say MANGLED, everyone? Sure you can! I bet you can even spell
it too!
? Haven't read it, buttempted too now. ;)

Bubblegum Zone. The definitive single-man encyclopedia-sized fanfric.
Not even an OUNCE overpowed. The descriptive writing is top notch,
the chatacters are all on-target, and SkyKnight's humor shines throughout
the fanfic. A classic in its own right. This one has earned, as has Crys and
Twisted Path, a permanent spot on my HD. I've reread this many a time.
(Side Note to SkyKnight, since I expect he'll see this:
BGZ 9 late??! AARGH!)
"They call him SkyKnight, SkyKnight! Hero silver burning bright, through
the night!" B> Sorry Bert. *snicker*
Sometimes I wish I could type more. *sigh*
Rah, rah, rah! ;)

And last, but never least, the impossibly odd Undocumented Features.
This series is the defining lines of Otaku Fanficton. Overpowered, zany,
filled with millions of references and crossovers, this is THE series to
read it you haven't already. In "classic" literature, I'd compare this to
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Characters are excellent,
descriptions are excellent, and the series tends to keep you on your
toes about which direction it will head in next. This one has a special
place on my HD. Excellent reference material as well, I might add. As
I said before, this is a MUST READ.
Most definitely! This series is the main reason I started writing TP!
True, it can be overpowered at time(like I'M one to talk. ;) but very,
very good.
Now if you think overpowered....Twister versus UF! Now THAT would be
something. :) *snicker* Sadly, I have thought of a beginning for that.
*rolls eyes*

He turns to everyone, and salutes. Then he nods to SkyKnight, Twister,
and WWolf. Turning to the crowd one final time, he exclaims, "Oh! Before
I forget.. Hi Mom!". The figure disappears into the darkness, leaving
you to puzzle his final comment.

"I'd like to thank the acadamy and..." *snicker*
Nice post Firehawke. ;)
