It means that if you get a bad score, you should take some english classes,
geh...It's a GRADE, just like you said...I honestly don't know why anyone

I don't think he was refering to a letter grade as in an evaluation of
how well you do. Word's grammar check gives a number to reprent what
grade level (ie 1st grade, 7th grade, etc.) would be able to understand.
The theory is that unless you want your writing to be obscure (you're a
lawyer) you keep the grade level as low as possible. Of course, that's
for business writing. I don't think it really means much for prose,
where you use language much more creatively.
