That's contradicted in #3 just before Priss lets Leon know about her curse.

   to see them put on the hardsuits.

At this point, with Leon knowing so much about them, she might as
well.  And they're clearly less willing to "go it alone" like in the
past, recent events have shown them they can use allies.  Adding Leon
to the "family" makes plenty of sense.  

I too like the "family" angle to this.

Another comment: more attention to Nodoka would be warrented; we don't
have much a picture of her yet.  You might also want to frequently
refer to her as Nodoka-chan or something, just to avoid the obasan with
katana connotations that name tends brings.
